Kenny was born on August 12, 1936, the son of Orval and Helen (Schleuning) Rahn on the family farm in rural Chadwick. He attended Daggett Country School and later graduated from Chadwick High School with the Class of 1955. Kenny proudly served his country in the late 1950’s, after being drafted by the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Joan Marie Houzenga on August 11, 1961 at the Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, Illinois. Joan died on May 5, 2012 at her home.
Kenny farmed his entire life, starting on the family farm. After Kenny and Joan were married, they farmed south of the family farm on Black Oak Road. In 1968, Kenny and Joan moved back to the family farm and bought it in 1983. Kenny was a steward of the land and proud of their Centennial Family Farm. Kenny was a longtime member of the Hope United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and helped with Sunday school. In more recent years, Kenny attended the Chadwick Evangelical Free Church. Kenny also served on the Salem Township Board. In his free time, Kenny enjoyed bowling and watching the Chicago Cubs. Kenny always made time to attend the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Most of all, Kenny treasured his community, and spending time with his family and friends.
