Kenneth "Kenny" Manning

Kenneth “Kenny” E. Manning, age 65, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away on November 2, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Thomson from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. followed by a service. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Kenny was born on October 26, 1951, in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Frank Felix and Helen (Hans) Manning. He attended Thomson High School and graduated with the Class of 1971. He then attended Kaplan College and received a Bachelor of Science degree. Kenny worked for Prairie State Select Sires for 15 years and as a self-employed barber. For the last 10 years Kenny was a caretaker for his mom.
Kenny was an avid reader, a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed their success this year. He enjoyed attending girl’s high school softball and volleyball games. Most of all, Kenny treasured his cat, Zena.
Kenny is survived by his mother, Helen; brother, Bill (Lola) Manning of Thomson; four nieces and nephews, Christa (Dave) Curley of Fulton, Illinois, Bryce (Jessica) Manning of Marion, Iowa, Dustin Manning of Moline, Illinois, Alan (Wendy Benson) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and eight great nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Frank.
