Kenneth W. Freeman

Kenneth W. Freeman, age 80 of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died on April 11, 2013 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his wife, family and friends. A private funeral service will be held on April 15, 2013 with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Military rites will be accorded by the Mount Carroll American Legion Post #67. A memorial fund has been established in Ken’s memory.
Ken was born on March 24, 1933, the son of Charles and Olive (Schreiner) Freeman in Freeport, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Kenneth married Wilma Foltz on June 5, 1955 and they resided all their married life in Mount Carroll.
After he was discharged, Ken spent forty-four years in banking, before retiring in 1998. He worked with the Mount Carroll National Bank and later the First State Bank of Shannon-Polo-Lake Carroll, where he served as Senior Vice President. He also served on the Board of Directors at both facilities. Ken was a member of the Mount Carroll United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir for over fifty years. He also enjoyed golfing and working in his yard. Most of all, Ken cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Ken will be dearly missed by his wife of fifty-seven years, Wilma; one brother, Lloyd (Nancy) Freeman of Mount Carroll; two nephews, five nieces, and one great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in-law, Clyde and Olive Foltz; one sister; three brothers; one niece and one great nephew.
