Keith Vandermyde, age 73, of Lanark, Illinois passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Manor Court of Liberty Village Nursing Center in Freeport. Visitation will be held 5 – 7pm Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the Shannon Baptist Church, Shannon, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:30am Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Shannon Baptist Church, with a luncheon immediately following the service. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery, Chadwick, Illinois.
Keith Vandermyde was born on October 20, 1951, in Morrison, Illinois, to James and Lois (McDearmon) Vandermyde. He was raised on the family farm near Chadwick, where he developed a strong work ethic that remained with him throughout his life. Keith was a proud graduate of Chadwick High School, Class of 1972.
Keith dedicated 44 years of his life to his work at Kelly-Springfield and Titan Tire in Freeport, from 1972 until his retirement in 2016. He also spent time working at Eaton Manufacturing in Lanark. Beyond his career, Keith found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, mowing, and lending a hand to friends and neighbors with their yards. He also had a passion for nature and took great pride in planting trees with Sweitzer Nursery. Keith’s kindness, hard work, and love for the outdoors will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Keith was a devoted member of Shannon Baptist Church, where he was deeply committed to helping others and supporting mission work. His compassionate spirit was evident in his love for children, and he found joy in bringing treats for the young members of the congregation.
Keith will be deeply missed by his beloved daughter, Christina Vandermyde of Bensenville, Illinois, and his devoted brother, Neal Vandermyde of Chadwick, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
