Keith P. Dauphin, of Savanna, Illinois died Monday, August 9, 2010, in his home as the result of a heart attack. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Keith’s honor. Keith was the first-born son of Palmer and Margaret Dauphin. He was born on August 13th, 1939. He married Judy Turney, and together they had two children. He remained a faithful and devoted son and father throughout his life. Keith later married Wadeen Tripp Hungerford in October of 1984.
He went on to join the Marines, worked for the Univerity of Illinois Natural History survey, served as a Lieutenant for 30 years for the Savanna Police Department, and finished his career as a bailiff at the Carroll County Circuit Courthouse in Mt. Carroll
He was an avid outdoors’ man and was happiest when outside enjoying nature. His favorite hobbies included trapping, turkey and deer hunting, competitive trap shooting and observing nature. When not outdoors, he loved to discuss politics and the state of world affairs with friends and family. All the while, his TV was permanently affixed to the Fox News Channel. Keith had a great sense of humor and could never resist a good practical joke. While his children and grandchildren lived far away, they were a great source of joy during his life. Closer to home, he enjoyed daily visits with his parents and watching a good football game.
Keith is survived by his wife, Wadeen, his two children Angela (Mike) Churillo and Brian (Karen) Dauphin, and one step-daughter, Lori (Darryl) Barrett. Keith has 8 grandchildren, Hayden, Joshua, Brennan, and Maggie Fogas, Alexandra, and Phoebe Dauphin, Tracy and Jesse Barrett. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Dauphin, and sisters, Carol Carey and Lois (Kim) Kauffman. He was preceded in death by his father, Palmer Dauphin.
