Kathryn Faye Patch, age 65, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died after a three-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Avon Foundation for Women Breast Cancer Crusade.
Kathy was born on November 14, 1948, the daughter of Emerson and Eleanora (Hoy) Champion in Freeport, Illinois. She married Denny Patch, Sr. on November 6, 1965 in Lanark, Illinois. They celebrated 48 years of marriage together.
Kathy worked as a secretary for the First United Methodist Church in Lanark, Illinois for 20 years. She loved the Christmas season and had a large Santa Claus collection. Kathy also enjoyed sewing, crafts, playing games and going to garage sales. Most of all, Kathy loved taking care of her home and family.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Denny; one son, Denny Patch, Jr. of Freeport; three daughters, Amy (Nick) Smith of Freeport, Vickie (Dominic) Zinanni of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Melinda (Adam Booth) Smith of Mahomet, Illinois, and five grandchildren, Zack Geerts, Cameron Geerts, Nick Zinanni, Christopher Zinanni, and Ethan Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Charles Champion and one sister, Sylvia Mueller.
