Katherine Ann Parks

Katherine Ann Parks, age 79, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away December 29, 2022 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 6 pm Friday, January 6, 2023, at Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 pm, prior to the service. Memorials may be made in her honor for Heavens Chapel Mount Carroll Illinois.

Katherine was born November 3,1943, in Hosmer, South Dakota, the daughter of Ludwig and Clara (Lacher) Schmidt. On February 2,1964, Katherine married Gary Parks. They raised three children and celebrated 34 years of marriage until Gary’s passing in 1999. For 22 years, Katherine was a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna. She loved listening to music and going to concerts. She also loved to watch ice skating! Katherine was a member of Heaven’s Chapel in Mount Carroll, IL.

Katherine enjoyed many church ministries, prison ministry, courtside ministry, The Table food pantry, in home Bible study, Sunday school teacher, church choir, church service at Big Meadows, bike blessing and bug run. She enjoyed service at Calvary Lighthouse Church with pastor James Horvath, Rochelle, IL. Most of all, Katherine's family and friends were very important to her. She especially loved spoiling her granddaughters.

Katherine will be dearly missed by her two sons; Edward (Laura) Parks of McAlister, Oklahoma and William Parks (Amanda Thulion); and granddaughters, Kailie and Karah Parks of Savanna, Illinois; daughter, Malinda of Savanna, Illinois. Katherine is proceeded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Clara; her husband, Gary; brothers, Tony, Larry and Father Sebastian; sisters; Barbara, Phyllis, Florence, Deloris, Martha and Maggie.
