Karen L. Shores

Karen L. Shores, age 58, of Pearl City, Illinois, formally of Carroll County, Illinois died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
Karen was born July 14, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas the daughter of Jack Eugene and Nellie Marie (Fields) Canfield. She went to school in Norwalk, California. Karen married Vaughn Shores January 24.
In 1984 she became a Certified Nurses Aid. Most important to Karen was spending time with her family and extended family. She enjoyed quiet time at the “land” watching the wild animals, her garden and flowers, dragonflies, reading, her dog, “Junior,” and collecting recipies. Karen’s greatest achievement was living her life, full of love and strength, grace and dignity. Touching everyone’s hearts around her, teaching the true meaning of unconditional love.
Karen is survived by her husband, Vaughn C. Shores of Pearl City; three daughters, Theresa Hartman of Stratford, Texas, Andrea McGinnis of Thomson, IL and Tara Kuhse of Pearl City, IL; ten grandchildren, Amber Sweitzer, Skyler Sweitzer, Emma Hartman, Justin McGinnis, Micheal McGinnis, Autumn McGinnis, Ryan McGinnis, Dakota Gillen, Samantha Gillen, and Brittney Kuhse; and one great grandchild, Treiten Luther.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; Nellie and Jack Canfield; a brother, David Canfield; a sister, Angela Adams; two sons, Adam and Allen Shores; and two grandsons, Shayn Sweitzer and Brendan Hartman.
