Karen Potter, age 52 , of Middleton, Wisconsin, previously of Savanna, Illinois died unexpectedly Monday, December 8 at home. Karen loved spending time with family, including her beloved dogs and especially her nephews and nieces. Karen was a loyal and thoughtful friend, sister, co-worker and Aunt. She deeply appreciated her friendships. She was completely selfless, exceedingly generous and exceptionally kind.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held from 2-4:30 pm on Saturday, December 13 at the Cress Funeral Home at 6021 University Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin. Her ashes will be scattered at her favorite destinations and placed at Savanna Township Cemetery with her parents. Memorial donations can be made to Dade County Humane Society at GiveShelter.org.
Karen was born in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Bill and Shirley (Clifton) Potter. She is a 1980 Graduate of Savanna High School and graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. She was an Application Development Manager with Sentry Insurance in Middleton. She enjoyed caring for and spoiling her three toy poodles: Cinderella, Cayenne, and Lucy. She loved to travel and her favorite destinations were Florida, Disney, Hawaii, the Dells, and occasionally the casinos. She was an avid shopper, baker and reader.
Karen will be missed and remembered daily by her sister Merikay Potter of Macomb, Illinois and her brother and sister-in-law, Jim & Donna Potter of Edwardsville, Illinois. She treasured her nephew Logan Potter (19) of Bloomington, Illinois and cherished her nephews and nieces of Edwardsville: Campbell (16), Holden (15), Anna (12) and Chloe (11). She was preceded in death by her grandparents - Harley and Lillian Clifton of Savanna and Ada and William Potter of Hanover and her parents - Bill and Shirley Potter of Savanna.
