Justin Ryan Ellis, age 20, of Seattle, Washington, formerly of Hanover, Illinois, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 in Portland, Oregon. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover with Pastor Todd Brewer, Crossroads Community Church of Galena officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Thursday, two hours prior to the service. A memorial has been established to The Homeless Youth Alliance, PO Box 170427 San Francisco, CA 94117.
Justin was born November 14, 1987 in Princeton, Illinois, to Bradley Lee and Sherry Lyn (Scott) Ellis. He attended the Hanover Elementary School and is a graduate of the River Ridge High School, Hanover with the class of 2006.
Justin spent time traveling across the country. He was a very talented artist, mostly working with drawings and tattoos. He also was a gifted musician, playing the guitar and writing music. While in Hanover he spent much of his time at Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort, where he was a member of the Junior Ski Team and also worked as an instructor, teaching children to ski. He became an accomplished ski racer in USSA and WIJARA Racing, often competing in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. Justin also liked to ride motorcycles and go camping.
Justin will be dearly missed by his mother and dad, Sherry (Todd) Flack of Hanover, Illinois; his father, Bradley Ellis of Florida; four brothers, Drew, Logan, Carter, and Caleb; and two sisters, Amber and Emily; Maternal grandparents, Joan (Edward) Alepra of Kewanee, Illinois; paternal grandparents, Barb (Don) Ellis of Heyworth, Illinois; maternal great grandmother, Josephine Scott of Princeton, Illinois; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Justin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bradley Scott, Sr., and Raymond and Jane Flack.
