June was born June 2, 1935 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin and Elverda (Anderson) McCue. She attended Savanna schools and grew up during WWII. On February 1, 1954, June and Glen were married in Morrison, Illinois. They celebrated 59 years of marriage and family life before Glen’s passing December 2, 2013 at home.
June’s life was centered with her family. When she and Glen were younger, June worked at Meekers Supper Club in Savanna and General Electric in Morrison. She saved her money so that she and Glen could buy their home in Thomson, where they have proudly lived since 1969. June retired from GE in 1998 after working thirty years. June loved to cook and would often be caught reading cookbooks just like they were a novel. She loved all the precious moments that she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
June will be dearly missed by a son, Steve (Cindy) Whiting of Thomson; two daughters, Kathy (Elmer) Monshower of Thomson and Karen Bowers of South Holland, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Steve, Brian, Jesse, James, Matthew, Annie and Kelly; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Betty Oberheim of Rockford, Illinois and Donna (Julius) Roberts of Morrison; and one brother, Charles McCue of Savanna, Illinois. June was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; both parents; two two sons in infancy; three sisters, Grace Wiersema, Lois Oberheim and Ruth Ann Rivera; and one brother, Marvin McCue.
