June D. Reader-Miller, age 70 of Charlotte, Iowa, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2009, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa, with Reverend Gregory Geier officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Burial will take place in Preston Cemetery, Preston. June was born on February 4, 1939, the daughter of Harold Edward and Reva Irene (Clothier) Ready in Savanna, Illinois. She attended school in Gooselake, Iowa and graduated with the Class of 1957. June married Harry H. Reader on September 29, 1957, in Mississippi.June worked for Boil-Tex in Aurora, Illinois, and later the Preston Creamery until it closed. She also worked as a security supervisor aboard the Mississippi Belle II, Clinton, Iowa, retiring in 2004. June enjoyed playing cards with her mother and sisters, otherwise known as the “Quarter Queens”, and spending time with her four-legged companion, Little Girl. She also enjoyed baking and was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan. Most of all, June cherished spending time with her family.June will be dearly missed by her mother, Reva Ready of Charlotte; six sons, Joseph M. Reader of Splendora, Texas, Harry H. Reader of Splendora, Jeffrey A. (Charlene M.) Reader of DeKalb, Illinois, Eric S. (Kathleen) Reader of Preston, Richard K. (Linda S.) Reader of Elvira, Iowa and Jonathan J. Reader of Rancho Murieta, California; sixteen grandchildren; three brothers, Harold “Bub” (Sue) Ready of Clinton, Richard “Dick” (Judy) Ready of Clinton, Mike (Teri) Ready of Clinton; five sisters, Jeanne (Norman) Yaddof of Preston, Rose (Wayne) Eggers of Preston, Pat (Denny) Miller of Preston, Sandy (Dennis) Hosette of Clinton and Cindy (Dale) Rathje of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.June is preceded in death by her father; a daughter in-law, Lori Reader; and one sister, Linda Appleman.
