Julienne Hook, age 80, of Savanna died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the St. Paul Episcopal Church, Savanna, with Father Robert North officiating. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Memorials may be given in her memory to the Church and other local charities that Julienne supported.
Julienne was born July 25, 1931 in Savanna, the daughter of Alfred “Bud” and Myra (Jensen) Johnson. She is a Savanna High School graduate with the Class of 1949. On August 28, 1949, Julienne married Glen Snyder. Glen died in 1956. She later married Robert “Bob” Hook on June 29, 1961. Bob died June 6, 2008.
Julienne attended Lab Technician School in Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked as a Lab Technician for forty years, mostly for the Savanna City Hospital. She was a life-long member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Savanna. She was very active in the community as a volunteer with the Savanna Thrift Store, Relay For Life, Savanna Service Club, the Savanna Public Library and the Girl Scouts. Julienne enjoyed traveling, boating, playing cards, and just spending time with family and friends. She was known as a great neighbor and she loved Savanna.
Julienne will be dearly missed by two daughters, Cindy (Scott) Musser of Winnebago, Illinois and Christine Lee of Savanna, Illinois; her son, David Hook of Thomson, Illinois; five grandchildren, Shane Wilkins, Hans Wilkins, Andrew (Jeni) Kessler, Laura (Bryan) O’Neal and Kathrine Lee; eleven great grandchildren, Josee, Paige, Abraham, Samson, Scarlet, Trista, Hannah, Jacob, Lauryn, Nathan, Ryley, Payton, Brady and Dylan; a niece Lynn Soppe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a sister in-law, Marian Handley. Julienne is preceded in death by both husbands; and a granddaughter, Brooke Lynn Kessler.
