Julie Ann Keddell

Julie Ann Keddell, age 71, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at home. She leaves behind a life filled with love, laughter, good food, flowers, family, and memories that will not soon be forgotten.

Julie was born on May 3, 1955, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the daughter of James and Mary Marheine. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1974 and later attended Fox Valley Technical College, where she studied culinary arts. Her love for cooking quickly became part of her working life as she apprenticed at Butch’s Anchor Inn at Oshkosh, under Butch Arbs.

It was through cooking that Julie also met the love of her life, Jeffrey Keddell. The two met at Oakwood Campground in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, while Julie was cooking barbecue. Jeff fondly remembered that during their first meeting Julie asked him if he liked corn on the cob. When he replied that corn “didn’t suit him too well,” Julie buttered up an ear of corn, ran it across her lips, and gave him a big buttery kiss. From that moment, their love story began — and it never ended.

Julie and Jeff became best friends and life partners, marrying on July 30, 2005, at the same Oakwood Campground in Wild Rose where they had first met. Their life together was a natural partnership. Julie was the inside cook, while Jeffrey handled the cooking outdoors. Julie was known for making what her family proudly considered the world’s best potato salad.

She also loved raising flowers, and Jeff liked gardening vegetables. Together, Julie and Jeffreycomplemented one another— a true yin and yang.

Julie had a special love for Christmas and enjoyed it so much that a Christmas tree could always be found standing in their home. She was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and never missed a chance to cheer on her team.

Julie and Jeff made their home in Hanover, Illinois, for more than 18 years. During that time, Julie owned and operated Botanical Jules, a floral and gift shop located next to their home. The shop was a reflection of Julie herself — creative, colorful, welcoming, and filled with things she loved.

Above all, Julie will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of cooking and gardening, and the deep friendship and devotion she shared with Jeff. Their relationship was built on laughter, companionship, and a love that endured through the years.

Julie’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of Jeffrey, her family, her friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family is gathering privately to honor her memory.
