Judith "Judy" Diane Schreiner

September 18, 1959 — August 30, 2025

Judith “Judy” Diane Schreiner of Savanna passed away on August 30, 2025.

Judy was born on September 18, 1959, in Granite City, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Maxine (Woolley) Compton. She graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1977. She continued her education at Highland Community College before transferring to Franciscan University in Clinton, Iowa, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 2003, graduating magna cum laude.

On December 23, 1981, Judy married her partner in life, Kevin Schreiner, in Holiday Shores, Illinois. Together, they raised their three daughters, Lori, Beth, and Ellen. As a mother, she sought to instill in her daughters to live a life that brought them joy and to strive for the things that mattered.

Judy dedicated 10 years serving as an office manager at Mental Health Services in Granite City, where her skills in organization, detail, and efficiency were widely admired. She continued to use these skills in various jobs over the years. Beyond her professional life she was committed to her family—always caring for her household and supporting her three daughters into adulthood. She especially loved trips, antique shopping, playing card games, and relaxing at the cabin on the River.

As a grandmother, Judy was known for spoiling her grandkids with treats, taking them to county fairs, and making sure they always left her home with something special. She helped her community by serving as a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Savanna Lions Club, and a Sunday school teacher. Judy had a love for music, theater and shows. Some favorite memories include celebrating milestones, sharing meals, and time spent together.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of nearly 44 years, Kevin; her three daughters, Lori Anderson of Machesney Park, Elizabeth (Zachary) Reusch of Winona, MN, and Ellen (Alex) Chadwick of Savanna; her seven grandchildren, Kristen, Alexis, Elijah, Ezra, Ezekiel, Violet, and Alister; four great grandchildren; her father, Thomas Compton; and her brother, Brian Compton of Missouri, 4 brothers-in-law, and 5 sisters-in-law. Judy is preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Woolley.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, with a service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Judy’s life, sharing memories, and celebrating the life she lived.
