Judith "Judy" A. Kness

Judith “Judy” A. Kness of Chadwick, Illinois passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chadwick. Burial will take place in Chadwick Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Judy’s memory.

Judy was born on September 24, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa , the daughter of Marion and Pauline (Stoner) Reed. She attended Hanover High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. On June 1, 1958, Judy married the love of her life Gerald “Jerry” Kness in Hanover. They owned Kness Trucking in Chadwick. Jerry passed away December 20, 2001.

Judy was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chadwick. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and taking care of her grandchildren. Most of all she loved the time she spent with her family and they will miss her Angel Food cakes that she prepared.

Judy is survived by her three sons, David (Roxanne) Kness of Clinton, Iowa, Steve Kness of Chadwick, Scott Kness of Chadwick; six grandchildren, Ryan Lambert, Adam Kness, Brady Kness, Garrett Kness, Dylan and Carley Kness and three great-grandchildren. Judy was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Patricia (Kenneth) Benjamin and her parents.
