Joyce I. Morhardt, age 76, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at her home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006 at Oak Hill Cemetery Mt. Carroll, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established in Joyce’s memory for the American Cancer Society.
Joyce was born November 2, 1929, the daughter of James E. and Bessie Lucille (Morden) Horton, in Milledgevilllle, Illinois. She attended country schools in Ogle and Carroll Counties. Joyce married Dick A. Morhardt on May 17, 1967 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Dick preceded her in death January 14, 1995.
Joyce worked as a bar tender for many years in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. She was a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 8455 of Polo, Illinois. Joyce loved to crochet, sewing, word search books and watching soap operas. She was an avid bowler and for many years she was a member of Bowling Leagues. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her three sons, Delbert "Skip" (Alma) Bryson of Dixon, Illinois, James H. (Carman) Bryson, of Rockford, Illinois and Robert Lee (Ruth) Bryson, McLeansboro, Illinois, and one daughter Debbie (Ronald) Brashaw, Mt. Carroll, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; three brothers James LeRoy Horton, Austin, Texas, Harlem Eugene "Rube" Horton, Polo, Illinois, and Gary Lee "Butch" Horton, Winslow, Illinois; two sisters, Connie Mae Zettle, Freeport, Illinois and Lois K. (Joe) Delacrui, Wellston, Ohio.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother Lynn J. Horton.
