Joshua A. Trebian, age 46, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. A deeply intelligent, observant, and fiercely loyal son, brother, and friend, Josh will be remembered for his sharp mind, his protective nature, and his genuine love for the people (and animals) in his life.
Born on February 18, 1980, in Dubuque, Iowa, Josh was the son of Dennis Trebian and Kerry Winter. A happy kid who was more likely to be building with Legos than squirrel hunting with his Dad, Josh grew up in the Hanover area and graduated from River Ridge High School with the Class of 1998 before taking classes at Highland Community College.
Josh had a strong work ethic and an independent spirit. He operated his own business, JT Computers, for several years, utilizing his natural intelligence and tech-savvy skills. He also worked many years at Happy Joe’s in Galena, followed by some time at Choo-Choo Charlies in Dubuque. Most recently Josh worked for Midwest 3PL in Hanover. He enjoyed staying active in his community, regularly attending Hanover Chamber of Commerce meetings and volunteering at their pancake breakfasts.
An avid reader from a young age, Josh was a lifelong fan of science fiction, Harry Potter, and a diverse array of books. He had a profound appreciation for Shakespeare and loved watching performances at the American Players Theatre in Spring Green and Timberlake Playhouse in Mt. Carroll. His extensive reading gave him a formidable vocabulary, making him an incredibly tough opponent in word games—a fact that always surprised and entertained his nephews. Wanting to share his love of books with others, Josh and his dear friend Shari Farral started a little library at the Hanover VFW, which encouraged many people to start reading.
Josh cherished his friendships and loved spending time with his friends at the VFW. Josh loved animals, especially his Morkie, Emma. She was the absolute love of his life, and he was a devoted caretaker, faithfully dropping her off at his mother’s house every morning before work and picking her up every night.
Josh will be dearly missed by his mother and stepfather, Kerry and Chuck Sedivy of Hanover; his father and stepmother, Dennis and Alice Trebian of Hanover; his sister, Amanda (Zachary) Haggerty of Dalton, WI; his brother, Garrett Trebian of Hanover; his stepbrothers, Wade (Angela) Zuberbuhler of Lena, IL, and Charlie (Janel) Sedivy of Savanna, IL; his stepsister, Megan Sedivy of Savanna, IL; his nephews, Austin and Hank Haggerty; his niece, Jaelynn Irvin; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his special friend, Shari Farral of Hanover.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and JoAnn Winter, and Duane and Alberta Trebian; his step-grandmother, Olive Sedivy; his stepbrother, Brian Sedivy; his uncles, John, Carl, and Allen; and his aunts, Sara and Eydie.
A funeral service to honor Josh’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation prior from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2026 at Law Jones Funeral Home in Hanover.
