Joseph Francis Jensen, age 58, of Savanna, IL, passed away August 15, 2024 with his family by his side. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 24, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Savanna, at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place that morning from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Savanna.
Joe was born April 5, 1966, in Clinton, IA, the son of Kenneth and Carol (Marn) Jensen. He graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1984. He went on to attend classes at Clinton Community College and graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Joe started at KJWW (now IMEG) in February of 1990, working more than 30 years for them. He was also contracted with 3M since 1998. He loved his 3M work family and they love and miss him greatly.
On September 6, 1997, Joe married Christine Boyer, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. They have remained members there, to this day. Joe loved riding his motorcycle on date nights with Christine or “Lovey” as he called her, as well as day trips and the occasional overnight trip.
Music was a huge part of Joe’s life. He played in a band during his teenage years, and he and Christine always had music playing in their home. Many of Joe’s friends and family credit him with introducing them to all sorts of music from obscure artists.
Family was everything to Joe, and he undoubtedly holds the title of “best pops ever,” He adored his granddaughter, who would play pranks on him, with Joe laughing right along through them all.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Christine; son Justin (Erica) Rettenberger, of Temecula, CA; granddaughter, Brielle; father, Kenneth Jensen, of Clinton; brothers, Jason (Maitri) Jensen, of Greeley, CO and Jared Jensen, of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, Richard Boyer, of Niles, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Jensen and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clyde and Rosalind Boyer.
