John Philip Sipe, age 59, of Savanna, Illinois, died suddenly on Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home in Savanna. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Savanna Township Cemetery in Savanna, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2016, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in John’s memory.
John was born on March 23, 1957, the son of Philip and Aiko “Joanie” (Dobashi) Sipe in Savanna, Illinois. He attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1975. He married Debra Bright on June 26, 1976.
John drove truck for Art Pape Transfer in Dubuque, Iowa for 16 years, before retiring in 2009. Before he was a truck diver, John was a manager for Pizza Hut in Savanna, Illinois, Manchester, Iowa, and Dubuque, Iowa. John enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed playing video games online with family and friends. Most of all, John had a special love for his family, especially his granddaughter, Aubrey.
John will be forever remembered by his loving daughter, Sarah (Matt) James of Savanna; one son, Shawn Sipe of Durango, Iowa; one granddaughter, Aubrey James; two brothers, Ron (Sheryl) Sipe of Savanna and Arthur (Wendy) Sipe of Mt. Carroll; and three sisters, Janet (William) Hamilton of Savanna, Peggy (Glenn) Pauli of Carpentersville, Illinois, and Susan (Ben) Sooby of Machesney Park, Illinois.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Joanie Sipe.
