John "Jack" Ross

July 7, 1945 — November 1, 2021

John “Jack” Charles Ross 1945-2021 died in his home on November 1st, 2021. He attended Savanna schools and graduated from Savanna High School. He was very active in many sports and other activities. He then attended Fullerton California Junior College, returned to Savanna, and attended Western Illinois University, and graduated with a degree in business.
Jack was job coordinator for the Stephenson County CETA program until it was no longer sponsored by the government. He then worked for the Western Graphics in Colorado for several years. He loved the mountains, but loved the Mississippi more, so he returned home and sold advertising. In his later years, he worked for the Wild Rose Casino security. Jack loved reminiscing with friends and family. He loved sports, especially college football. He also loved music and NASCAR. He had a witty sense of humor, and always had people laughing as he had many friends.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, at Savanna Township Cemetery. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Manny’s Pizza that same day. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Jack’s family.
Jack was fun to be around and will be missed very much by his sister, Linn, and brother-in-law, Joe. He has two cousins; Richard (Carol) Gillogly of Tolland, CT, and Dr. Robert (Barbara) Gillogly of Middletown, KY. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lois.
