John Millerschone, age 87, of Elizabeth, Illinois died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church, Stockton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth, Illinois. John was born on January 5, 1928 on the family farm outside of Stockton to Jacob and Magdalena (Brudi) Millerschone. He was the youngest of 8 children. He attended the Chipmunk Country School and worked on the family farm until he left home to pursue factory work. On May 18, 1956, John married Barbara Cording at Christ Lutheran Church. Together, they raised a daughter. In 1994, he retired after nearly 25 years of employment from John Deere, Dubuque. He was a proud UAW Local 94 member.
John enjoyed vacationing; taking a leisurely drive with the windows down and country music playing; going out to eat with his family; and friendly conversations. He loved tinkering with his 1947 Farmall Cub Tractor and in later years his John Deere lawn tractor. John wasn’t a great fan of sports, but he enjoyed following the teams his granddaughter played on.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara Millerschone of Elizabeth; his daughter, Crystal Millerschone and Jeff "Stumpy" Williams of Elizabeth; and his granddaughter, Louisa Williams. John was preceded in death by six brothers, Carl, Howard, Ernest, Martin, Joe and Clarence; his sister, Florence Krupke; and both parents.
