John W. Miller was a farmer who loved watching the deer pass through the farm. At the age of 84, John passed away on November 24, 2014, at home. A private graveside service will be held at the Fairhaven Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Fairhaven Methodist Church in John’s memory.
John was born on September 12, 1930, to Charles and Mildred Ethel (Heide) Miller on the family farm in Fairhaven Township. He attended country school in rural Fairhaven. John honorably served his country in the United States Army. On December 14, 1957, he married the love of his life Judy Knupp at the Fairhaven Methodist Church. Judy passed away on October 25, 2013.
John farmed his whole life in rural Fairhaven, he raised hogs, cattle and grew corn on his farm until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed spending his free time carving wood, he treasured carving special things for friends and family. He loved friends & family visiting him at the farm, as well as his leisurely cruise route where he could see the deer, the countryside and a friend to chat with. Most of all, John loved the time spent surrounded by his family.
John will be dearly missed by his son, Jeff Miller of rural Chadwick; two daughters, Julie Miller of Morrison, Illinois, Janet (Bernie) Wiersema of Chadwick; five grandchildren, Shelly (Greg) Lantz, Jonathan Miller, Matthew Miller, Katelyn (Trent Gebhardt) Wiersema, Andrew Wiersema; five great grandchildren, Jacob and Kyle Lantz, Hunter and Trever Miller, Madalynn, Dorathy and a sister, Virginia Turnbaugh of Mt. Carroll, Illinois. John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; two sisters, Grace Appel, Mabel Klitz; two brothers, Glenn Miller and Bill Miller.
