John "Jack" Lockrey

April 2, 1928 — February 6, 2015

John "Jack" Gerald Lockrey, lived life to the fullest and never missed out on the opportunity for adventure with his beautiful wife, Patricia. At the age of 86, Jack passed into heaven Friday, February 6, 2015 surrounded by family. A Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015, preceded by visitation at 8:30 a.m. at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Shannon, Illinois with Father Mike Bolger as Celebrant. Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois with full military rites. A visitation will be held 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Illinois. Memorials may be given for Disabled Veterans.
Jack was born April 2, 1928 in Chicago, the son of Gerald and Josephine (Fortaw) Lockrey. He attended Fenger High School, in Chicago, graduating with the Class of 1946. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the 38th Mountaineers from 1946 to 1948. On May 8, 1948 Jack married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Hirschman in Hammond, Indiana. They celebrated sixty-two years of marriage. He lost his Irish Angel, April 2, 2010.
Jack worked for Unarco-Leavitt Tubing in Chicago for many years as a Superintendent. When he was younger, he also worked as a butcher, and as a window washer for the City of Chicago. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Freeport. Jack enjoyed skiing, fishing, traveling and golfing with Pat. He also enjoyed playing cards and golfing with the guys at Lake Carroll.
Jack will be dearly missed by two sons, John (Donna) Lockrey of Coral Springs, Florida, and Dennis Lockrey of Rockford, Illinois; five daughters, Patricia (John) Giaimo of Belvidere, Illinois, Jeanne Lockrey of Tinley Park, Illinois, Kathryn Consorti of Cincinnati, Ohio, Eileen (Thomas) Ramstrom of Lowell, Indiana, and Peggy Lockrey of Lake Carroll; nine grandchildren, John (Rachel) Krass, Patricia (Kevin) Cairo, Erin (Jesse) Bartuzik, James (Emily) Consorti, Robert Consorti, Thomas (Jennifer) Ramstrom, Jr., Justin (Natalie) Ramstrom, Russell (Shaun Martz) Ramstrom, Mollie (Sean) Hall; 13 great-grandchildren, Julia and Kailey Krass, Spencer Cairo, Wednesday and Jack Bartuzik, Olivia Consorti, Isabelle Hitzeman, Nora and Dean Ramstrom, Taylor and Kaitlyn Ramstrom, Samuel and Adam Hall; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia; both parents; one brother, Kenneth Lockrey; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lockrey, and one son-in-law, John Krass, Sr. And many a Hirschman, who are happy the instigator has finally arrived!
