John "J.D." Gundlach

John “J.D.” David Gundlach, age 74, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded.
John was born June 4, 1942, the son of Leslie “Red” and Larissa (Davis) Gundlach in Savanna. He attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Beloit College in 1964. John married Beth Schmidt on July 21, 1979.
John worked as a buyer for SBC in Schaumburg, Illinois for 18 years until retiring in 2004. He also worked as a police officer and Fire Commissioner in Lake Zurich, Illinois. He enjoyed coaching Girl’s fast pitch softball, reading, and spending time with his family and his dog, Molly.
John will be dearly missed by his wife of 37 years, Beth; his two daughters, Georganne (Mare) Gundlach of Waukegan, Illinois, and Lisa Coleman of Kenosha, Wisconsin; one stepson, Mike (Heather) Enders of Richmond, Illinois; a stepdaughter, Tina Coniglio of Lake City, Colorado; nine grandchildren, and one sister, Nancy (Richard) Clinite of Darien, Illinois. John is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Larissa.
