John Wayne Entwhistle age 88, of rural Morrison, Illinois, died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, Illinois. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, Illinois with Reverend Scott Bonestroo officiating. Inurnment will be in the Cottonwood Community Cemetery, rural Morrison, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in John’s name and left to the Spring Valley Reformed Church or the Resthave Nursing Home.

John was born on July 25, 1920, the son of Arthur and Eleta (Mattson) Entwhistle in Morrison, Illinois. John graduated from Morrison High school class of 1938. On August 9, 1941, he married Alma Gehlsen in Sterling, Illinois. Alma died October 12, 2006.

John worked and owned a farm near Morrison. He also worked at General Electric in Morrison for eleven years. John was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, and Natural Area Guardians. He served on the Cottonwood Cemetery Board and was the Town Clerk for Ustick, Illinois for twenty-seven years. John was an early advocate of soil and water conservation. He enjoyed spending his free time doing Oil Paintings. Most of all John enjoyed the time he had with his children and grandchildren.

John will be dearly missed by three sons, Eldon (Marshann) Entwhistle of Princeton, Illinois, Gehl (Dianne) Entwhistle of Elmhurst, Illinois and Brent Entwhistle of Morrison; two grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Entwhistle; and a sister Maxine Crossland of Bowen, Illinois.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Alma.
