John T. Donahoe

John T. Donahoe III was born April 29, 1952 and died February 5, 2012.
John was the oldest son of John T. Donahoe, Jr. and Mary Catherine Donahoe of Hanover, Illinois. He is survived by two sisters and three brothers in addition to nine nieces and nephews.
John attended the University of Arizona. At age 34, he moved into law enforcement. John was accepted to the Nevada Highway Patrol in 1985, graduated from N.H.P. Police Academy in 1986 and proudly served as a Nevada State Trooper until his retirement. John was also promoted to Field-Trainer and was responsible for certifying new N.H.P. Patrol Officers for active duty.
John had a wide variety of interests including martial arts, where he earned a black belt in karate in his late 20's. He was a big music fan, owning thousands of recordings. He was responsible for most of the stereo equipment owned by just about everyone he knew. John was also an avid photographer and owned many cameras, including older classic cameras which he used frequently. At one point John ran his own photography business in southern California, maintaining a film development lab as well as a large archive of photos and prints. Animals, especially dogs were another great interest for John; he owned many dogs and was an active supporter of many animal relief causes including the Greyhound Rescue Foundation. He owned and loved several rescued greyhound dogs during his years in Beatty, Nevada. John was also a part-time musician who enjoyed playing guitar. He donated a great deal of his musical equipment to young musicians who might otherwise not been able to afford equipment.
A funeral mass will be said August 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 110 West Madison Street, Chicago IL. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover IL at 5:30 that evening.
