John Alan Borgman

Aug 21, 1963 — Oct 9, 2026

Fulton, IL

On October 9, 2026, at the age of 63, John Alan Borgman found peace after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

John was born on August 21, 1963 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was adopted by his loving parents, Stan and Jeanne Borgman of Fulton, IL, in November of 1963. John was named after President John F. Kennedy, whose sudden passing delayed the trip to bring him home.

John grew up in the Fulton school district with his brothers and sister, and was interested in sports and fitness. He was always a funny kid, making up new words and stories, and spoke the infamous "Calling all cars!" line at his childhood Christmas pageant instead of what was rehearsed. Friends remember him as a jokester.

John was crowned Homecoming King in 1980 and graduated from Fulton High School in 1981. He earned a bachelor's degree from Mount St. Clare College in 1990. He was a lifelong member of CrossView Church (formerly Second Reformed Church) in Fulton.

John was an outdoorsman and lover of nature, especially birds of prey and ducks. He enjoyed hiking, swimming, and camping with his family at Devil's Lake State Park in Wisconsin for many years. He was a traveller, known for spontaneous road trips with surprise destinations. He was also an avid weight-lifter, and enjoyed a medium-rare steak, cruising around to Van Halen and all the best music of the 80's, and taking his flat-bed boat out on the river.

He fought inner battles for much of his adult life, but he was never separated from the love of his family. His life was fulfilled in his adventurous, fun-loving spirit and in his children, three daughters who watched over him to the end. He'll always be remembered in the good times at the lake, laying out in the sun, his favorite songs, and eagle watching at Lock & Dam 13.

His daughters know that he's finally "Stepping Out" after being stuck in a broken body for too long.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Jeanne Borgman, and his dog, Kody. He is survived by his daughters Devin (Brandon) Dierks, Demi (Austin) Peters, and Isabel Wherry, their mother ReNee (Gene) Grant, and eight grandchildren; his sister Jayne (Rick) Rempes, his brother Jim (Jean) Borgman, his brother David (Kim) Borgman, nieces and nephews, and their families.

A private celebration of life will be held by his family.
