Joanna Lee Rogers, born Joyce Lee Woods, went home to be with Jesus and her beloved momma on December 26, 2013, in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Joanna was born August 29, 1952 in Pasco, WA, to Joy Logsdon and Ernest Woods. She was a beautiful, petite woman gifted as a poet, singer, songwriter, pianist and accomplished gardener. She was a voracious reader and a friend to any cat without a home. Her heart was big, and her hands were small but strong. She was married briefly to Ricki C. Hofsommer of Knob Noster, MO, with whom she had one child, Amy Sunshine Engelberg, in 1973. She was married from 1978 to 1996 to Keith D. Rogers, son of Maurice and Renee Rogers of Clinton, IA.
Joanna moved to Florida in 2003 to be near her daughter and her only grandchild, Danielle Demetria Engelberg. She succumbed at home to lung cancer at age 61 after a sudden late stage diagnosis in November, with her daughter holding her hand. Joanna is survived by Amy, Danielle, two sisters (Debbie Logsdon and Neva Blesz), and two brothers (Michael Logsdon and Ernie Logsdon). She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Norma Jean. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, IL with a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodland Brethren Cemetery in Mount Carroll, IL. A luncheon will be held afterward Mount Carroll Church of God.
