JoAnn Lichamer, age 78 of Lanark, Illinois, died peacefully Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at home. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be given to the FHN Hospice of the FHN Cancer Center in JoAnn’s memory.
JoAnn was born March 1, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Rudolph and Mildred (Domke) Schmidt. She worked for Consolidated Frieghtways as an overseas shipping and receiving clerk for many years. On May 30, 1977 she married LeRoy Lichamer in Las Vegas, Nevada.
JoAnn was a member of the Lake Carroll Women’s Club. She was the founder of Project Linus, Lake Carroll Chapter, and the Angel Tree Program in Lake Carroll for children in need at Christmas. She wrote articles on Project Linus for the newspapers. She enjoyed playing Mah Jong, playing cards, gambling, listening to music. Most of all she cherished the time spent with her friends, family and cats.
JoAnn will be dearly missed by her husband, LeRoy Lichamer of Lanark, Illinois; four daughters, Carolyn (Carl Palucki) Perkins of Antioch, Illinois, Linda (Jerry Wolf) Moscon of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Camille (Jeff) Toman of Lemont, Illinois, Gloria (Michael) Perozzi of Berwyn, Illinois; a son, Anthony (Laurie) Matrisciano of Shorewood, Illinois; two step-daughters, Dana Lee Lichamer of Berwyn, Illinois, Julee (Scott) Atkinson of Woodstock, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a brother, Allan (Shirley) Schmidt of Bella Vista, Arkansas. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Nanci Emert; a sister and brother in-law, Nancy and Irwin Kahn.
