Joan A. Schroeder, age 77, of Preston, Iowa, died on Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Bickford Cottage Assisted Living Center, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa with Reverend Dwaine Priebe of Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville officiating. Inurnment will be in the Spragueville Cemetery, Spragueville, Iowa at a later date. Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. A Memorial fund has been established. Joan was born on September 2, 1929, the daughter of Charles A. and Johanna (Croce) Gool in Clinton, Iowa. She attended Clinton High School graduating Class of 1947. On May 2, 1948, Joan married Hobart Schroeder.
Joan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed being a homemaker and working as an In-Home Caregiver for many years. In her younger years she also worked at Hoenicke’s Restaurant in Preston and Bell Telephone in Clinton.
Joan was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Spragueville; the ALCW; the “DAR” Daughters of the American Revolution and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed traveling, sleigh riding, singing and playing the piano.
Joan will be dearly missed by her husband, Hobart of rural Preston; three sons, Stephen (Kathleen) Schroeder of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas Schroeder of Des Moines, Iowa and Timothy (Cheryl) Schroeder of Washington, North Carolina; two Daughters, Judy ( Hans) Henningsen of Preston and Jill (Thomas) Jepsen of Des Moines, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Marilyn) Gool of Clinton and John (Donna) Gool of Atlanta, Georgia.
Joan is preceded in death by both parents; and a granddaughter, Nicole Jepsen.
