Jo Ann Wubben

Jo Ann Wubben, age 70 of rural Mount Carroll, Illinois, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at FHN Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 19, 2010, at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Burial will take place in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 9:30 –11:00 a.m., Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Jo Ann’s name for pet rescue.

Jo Ann was born on July 29, 1939, in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Fred and Lois (Walters) Brooks, Sr.. She attended Orangeville High School, Orangeville, Illinois. On August 16, 1969, Jo Ann married Gerald “Bud” Wubben in Shannon, Illinois. He died September 23, 1993 in Rockford, Illinois.

Jo Ann loved taking care of her animals; holding the annual family pig roast with her husband, Bud; fishing and the outdoors. She was a previous member of the Savanna Moose Lodge. She worked as a homemaker and baby-sat for neighbors and family. She helped on the family farm, and also worked at Atwoods Stockton and Mt. Carroll, Honeywell Plant #4, Freeport, Rolling Hills Progress Center, Lanark, and the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. She enjoyed attending Special Olympic events with her sister.

Jo Ann will be dearly missed by her son R. Lee (Darla) Flickinger of Pearl City; two grandchildren, Tonya (Justin) Joens and Angie Flickinger; two great grandchildren, Katelyn and Bryson Joens; a brother, Glenn (Maxine) Brooks of Moline; a sister, Barbara McNabb of East Moline; and many nieces and nephews.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband; both parents; a son, Jason Wubben; and two brothers, Larry and Fred Brooks.
