Jimmie Ray Rodden, age 74, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, August 2, 2008, at the Elizabeth Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:00 am prior to the service at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. Jimmie was born November 25, 1933, in Elizabeth, Illinois, the son of George and Violet (Schaible) Rodden. He graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1952 and attended the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. Jimmie served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Jimmie worked for the Chicago Northwestern Rail Road in the car shop for thirty-one years in Clinton, Iowa. He was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, and was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge. Jimmie was a collector of guns and military memorabilia, as well as being an art collector. In his younger years, Jimmie was an avid body builder.
Jimmie is survived by one daughter, Janie Krohmer of Verona, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Morgan Peterson of Verona, Wisconsin; his friend and caretaker Janis (Wolf) Rohm of Elizabeth; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Leverne and Loren Rodden.
