Jesse D. Foley Sr., age 68, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A potluck and time of fellowship will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Eagle Club, 222 1/2 S. 2nd St, Clinton, IA 52732. A memorial fund has been established in Jesse’s memory.
Jesse was born January 21, 1942 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Zelma (Yenney) Foley. Jesse married Margaret Peters on June 27, 1964 in Camanche Iowa. Jesse was employed by Warren Industries in Camanche, Iowa and later Allied Structural Steel in Clinton, Iowa. After Allied Structural Steel closed its doors, Jesse went to work for Elkay Manufacturing, Savanna for an additional ten years. Jesse was a member of the Eagle Club for over forty years. He was an excellent carpenter and enjoyed flea marketing. Most of all, Jesse loved spending time with his family and friends.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Traci (Jim) Walters of Savanna, Peggy Foley-Promenschenkel of Savanna; one son, Jesse (Goldie) Foley, Jr. of Hardin, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Hyde of Clinton and Norma Shadle of Clinton; one brother, Harry (Nancy) Foley Sr. of Clinton; his mother-in-law, Ethel Nave and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Harold, Bobby, Jim, LaVerne and Joseph “Ben” Foley.
