Jerry E. Reiff

Jerry E. Reiff, age 77, resident of Riverview near Thomson, Illinois passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be held 12noon – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.


Jerry was born December 30, 1943 in Kewanee, Illinois, the son of Edward and Zeda (Ainely) Reiff. He grew up the youngest of two children, graduating from Kewanee High School with the Class of 1962. On August 24, 1968, Jerry married Rose Gillen. They have celebrated 52 years of marriage and raised four children, Louis, Angelita, Christine and Jerri.

Jerry worked as a union laborer in construction for over thirty years, retiring in 1998. He loved life and his family. His wife Rose would say, “If you knew Jerry, you knew a true-blue honest man, his word was solid.” He enjoyed teaching his children about the outdoors and life, often taking family trips to camp in Minnesota and Canada. He liked to hunt deer, ducks and moose, and loved fishing the Mississippi. The outdoors was his retreat. Jerry was a life-long NRA member.

Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife, Rose of Riverview; a son, Louis Reiff of Port Orange, Florida; three daughters, Angelita Mitchell of Rock Island, Illinois, Christine Reiff of Port Orange, Florida, and Jerri Reiff (Lourdes Torres) of Broomsfield, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Charlie, Jerry, Sam, Steph, Jason, Doug, Dan, Jacob, Brian, and Valentina; six great grandchildren, Bre, Elijah, Zack, Jayce, Jalynn, and Jaden. Jerry is preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Nancy Miller.
