Jerry Wayne Pauley, age 74, of Freeport, IL and previously of the Chadwick/Milledgeville area, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 3, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service in the Church. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the William S. Jerry was born October 9, 1943 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Orrin and Doris (Buckwalter) Pauley. He attended the country school near Fairhaven and then graduated in 1962 from the Chadwick High School. Jerry served in the US Air Force for four years. On March 25, 1972, Jerry married Cheryl Fjelstad, and they have celebrated forty-six years of marriage.
Jerry retired from Sewer Equipment Co. of Chadwick and Dixon in 2013, after 20 years of service. He also spent many years working for the Burlington Northern Railroad as track foreman. Jerry enjoyed motorcycling, gardening and restoring his 1965 Thunderbird. Later in life, he took up skydiving and completed multiple jumps in the US and abroad. He loved spending time with his family, especially visiting with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chadwick.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife, Cheryl of Freeport; his loving children, Ryan (Kristy) Pauley of Sterling, Cameron (fiancé Melissa Aldridge) Pauley of Castle Rock, CO, Darin (Rawan) Pauley of Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Kory Cress of Colfax, CA; his grandchildren Rayyan, Colin, Jude and Tory; his brother, Leo Pauley of Milledgeville; and his sister, Shelby (Ken) Jarczyk of Rockford. Jerry is preceded in death by both parents and his brother Steve.
