Jerry M. Driscoll, age 69, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at his home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa, with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Preston, with Father Paul Lippstock as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Preston.
Jerry was born August 8, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Mary Katherine (Bascom) Driscoll. He attended Preston Schools. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army. He married Lois Hare, and they later divorced. Jerry married Catherine Padulla Hansen on August 17, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jerry worked construction in Preston and also in Florida, Texas, and Tennessee. He also worked for the Northwestern Railroad. Jerry loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and riding horses in his younger years. He collected anything related to horses and unicorns. Jerry enjoyed taking car rides and also playing radio bingo on KMAQ.
Jerry is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine Driscoll of Maquoketa, Iowa; one daughter, Theresa Baysinger of Moline, Illinois; three sons, Jerry (Candy) Driscoll Jr. of Ennis, Texas, Trent (Anita) Driscoll of Ennis, Texas, and Joey Driscoll of Morrison, Illinois; one step daughter, Denise (Derrick) Shoop of Ottumwa, Iowa; four step sons, Richard (Patricia) Hansen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Stacey Hansen of Clinton, Iowa, Brian Hansen of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sean (Emma) Hansen of Owatonna, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren; two sisters, Carla Schrieber of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Connie Driscoll of Davenport, Iowa; four brothers, Jim (Pat) Driscoll, Jeff (Marianne) Driscoll, John “Jack” (Deanna) Driscoll all of Preston, Iowa, and Jan (Kim) Driscoll of Colorado; one aunt, Phoebe Neumann of Preston; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Christine Driscoll and Colleen Stoll; and one brother, Joel Driscoll.
