Jeanne Elisabeth Rieck – December 9, 1937 to October 19, 2023
Jeanne was born on December 9, 1937. She was born the second child of four of Albert and Ila (Fuller) Purcell in Clinton, Iowa. She married her husband of 65 years, Jim Rieck in 1957. They had 4 children, Sheila Hiher of Mt Carroll, Shari (Jeff) Marburger of Lyndon Station Wi, Dean (Connie) of Byron and Jamie (Chelon) of Mt Carroll. Jeanne had 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren with one Great and one Great Great Grandchild on the way.
Jeanne attended school in Clinton, Iowa graduating in 1955. She had a great interest in music where she learned to play the accordion and participated in the Clinton HS Acappella choir. Jeanne was a stay-home mother and grandmother and had various jobs throughout her life including working on the small farm she and Jim owned. Her grandchildren will always remember her funny stories of her as a youth and they always knew how much she loved them. She always commented that there was enough love for everyone! She absolutely loved to laugh and was always such a good sport…… we called her our “Holy Roller” after she fell outside at Jamie's and rolled all the way back to her yard where she was able to make enough racket to get Jim’s attention for help!
Jeanne enjoyed spending time with family and going to auctions with Jim. She was always willing to help people in need where possible. She enjoyed singing in the church choir during her life and was a music lover in general. She was a member of the Argo Fay Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid. She loved animals and they always had dogs, cats, horses, chickens and many different farm animals. Her most recent dog Marta stole her heart and was her baby. Jeanne and Jim built a family with high values of respect of others and a strong work ethic which has carried through generations.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; and her brothers, Bob and Bill. She is survived by her sister, Deanna (Bill) Gibson; her children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
