Jeanne Delores Anderson, 96, of Inverness, IL, sadly left us on June 15, 2023, after a long and fulfilling life.
Jeanne was born June 18, 1926 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Axel and Agda (Olson) Oliver, who decided to immigrate to the United States after winning the Swedish lottery. A first generation American, Jeanne was always proud of her Swedish Heritage. Growing up in Chicago, she attended Amundsen High School, graduating with the class of 1944. Jeanne then went on to Swedish Covenant nursing school, graduating and becoming a registered nurse in 1948. She worked as a nurse for the Santa Fe Railroad and the First National Bank of Chicago.
On September 15, 1956, Jeanne married Walter Andrew Anderson. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2007. In retirement, Walter and Jeanne enjoyed spending summers in Eagle River, WI and winters in St. Petersburg, FL; and Jeanne loved playing bingo, and cards with her bridge club.
Jeanne will be remembered for her kind spirit and her will to be happy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Anderson. Jeanne was a loving mother to Nancy (Max) Persels, the late Roger Anderson, Carol (Brad) Snelten, and Bob (Teri) Anderson. Jeanne was a dear grandmother to Chris Anderson, Kelsey (Danny) McDonnell, and Tiffany Persels, great grandmother of Allie, Maci, and Bennet Anderson, and Sophia McDonnell, and step-grandmother to Wes and Kenzie Roske.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 24 at Christ Lutheran Church in Palatine, IL, at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., before the service. Burial will proceed at Ridgewood Cemetery, in Des Plaines, IL, with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for St. Jude’s, a research hospital, of which Jeanne was very passionate.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, IL.
