Jeanette Doreen Wilson

Jeanette Doreen Wilson, age 91, of Miles, Iowa passed away peacefully at Winslow House Care Center in Marion, Iowa on May 17, 2023, near her daughter’s home. A Funeral Service will be held 11am Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Miles, with a visitation prior to the service from 9:30 – 11am at the Church. Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery.

Jeanette was born May 19, 1931, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Lillian (Hansen) Frahm. She grew up on the family farm and attended Miles Schools, graduating as Valedictorian in 1948. After graduation, she started dating Stuart Wilson, the boy two miles down the lane, who she grew up with, attended church and school with, and who she formed a lasting friendship with. When they each went off to college, they knew that they were made for each other. Jeanette studied teaching and graduated in 1952 from Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa.

Jeanette and Stuart were married June 29, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles, just months before Stuart would be drafted into the Army to serve in France, while Jeanette began her teaching career at Miles Elementary School. Stuart returned from the Army, and they got busy raising two children, Laura and John. Once the kids were old enough to be in school, Jeanette resumed her teaching career at Miles and East Central Schools. She retired after 30 years, and Jeanette and Stuart celebrated 64 years of marriage. Stuart passed in September of 2016.

Jeanette was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Miles. She also served alongside Stuart as a mentor at Kids Hope. She loved sewing and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanette could make a quilt or clothe her family with her sewing skills. Later she enjoyed making outfits for grandchildren and their dolls. She was unselfish and would find a way to help others often.

Jeanette will be dearly missed by her daughter, Laura (Tom) Robinson of Coggon, Iowa; her son, John Wilson of Miles; four grandchildren, Kara (Jamie) Johnson, Lauren (Brian) England, Katie (Greg) Bopes, and Charlie (Deven) Wilson; ten great-grandchildren, Silas, Oliver, Maddox, Jonas, Reese, River, Madeline, Abigail, Hendrix and Riggins; and her brother, Robert (Carol) Frahm of Miles. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Stuart; both parents; and her sister, Dorothy (Fred) Stickler.
