Jeanette I. Davis

December 31, 1923 — January 20, 2018

Jeanette I. Davis, age 94, of Chadwick, Illinois, died on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Cremation will take place following the visitation. A memorial fund has been established in Jeanette's honor.

Jeanette was born December 31, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of James and Jessie (Bailard) Elliott. She graduated from Downers Grove High School. On January 25, 1948, Jeanette married Carl Davis. They celebrated 49 years of marriage until Carl’s passing on March 26, 1997 in Morrison, Illinois

Jeanette owned and operated Snak Shoppe in Chadwick for ten years. She also worked in the cafeteria for Shimer College in Mt. Carroll for ten years. Jeanette was also a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She also enjoyed assisting and taking care of older people. She liked to sew, cook, and garden. Most of all, Jeanette loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Jeanette will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Janet (Thomas) Van Fleet of Rhome, Texas and Mary Rohrer of Lemont, Illinois; two sons, Keith Davis of Bluff Dale, Texas and Daniel (Linda Sue) Davis of Lanark, Illinois; one daughter in-law, Rita Davis of Pearl City, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; one son, Gregg Davis; one sister; two brothers; several step brothers and sisters.
