Jayson Bradley Crete, age 19, of Savanna, Illinois, died on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Jayson's memory.
Jayson was born on January 11, 1995, the son of Terri (Cook) Brien and Gary Crete in Freeport, Illinois. Jayson was born with a heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), and suffered cardiac arrest in 2011—after which, Jayson suffered neurological disorders and was restricted to a wheelchair. He attended West Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 2013. Jayson loved dinosaurs, science and reading. Jayson enjoyed playing video games and watching Professional Wrestling, especially John Cena. Most of all, Jayson treasured spending time with his family and friends.
Jayson will be dearly missed by his parents, Terri (Roger) Brien of Savanna; six brothers, Shane (Angeline) Crete of Clinton, Shawn (Ashely) Crete of Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota, Justin Crete of Savanna, Shannon (Rebecca) Crete, Jaimee (Heather) Crete, and Brooklyn Crete of Clinton; and one sister, Cheyenne (Victor) Crete-Linares of Chicago, Illinois; his father, Gary (Debra) Crete of Clinton, Iowa; two half-brothers, Joshua and Jeremy Crete; one half-sister Sarah Crete; step-siblings, Christina and Matthew Brien, and Chad, Travis and Razor.
Jayson is preceded in death by his grandparents.
