Jay was born on January 5, 1962, the son of Dean and Judy (Bucher) Frederick in Freeport, Illinois. Jay attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1980. While attending school, Jay worked as an attendant at the Mt. Carroll Mobil station. Jay went on to work at Honeywell-Micro Switch in Freeport for over twenty years. He also worked at Pfieffers Engine Service in Freeport for over ten years. While working there, he also owned and operated Frederick Machine and the Mt. Carroll Auto Parts Store in Mt. Carroll.
Jay had a love for fast cars and enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing. One of Jays highlights was when he had the opportunity to meet John Force and Tony Pendergon, both dragster racers. Jay also loved his Harley Davidson and would ride it as much as possible. One of his most treasured possessions is his green 1972 Corvette Roadster, which Jay personally restored to show quality. The Corvette is Bloomington Gold Certified and has won several awards in various car shows. Jay also collected guns and was a true believer in our 2nd Amendment rights. Most of all, Jay was a true friend and was always there when you needed him.
Jay will be dearly missed by one daughter, Courtney Frederick of Freeport; one sister, Jodi Frederick of Rock Falls, Illinois and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
