Janet Schreiner

Janet E. Schreiner, age 92, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jan was born on May 16, 1924, in Savanna, the daughter of George and Edith (Ervin) Frederick. She attended Savanna Schools and graduated with the Class of 1942. Following high school, Jan graduated from Shimer College in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. On September 3, 1944, Jan married Marvin Schreiner in Savanna. They celebrated 53 years of marriage until Marvin’s death on December 25, 1997. Jan and Marvin are parents of two sons, David and Don Schreiner.
Jan taught in Chadwick and Savanna Schools for a total of 36 years until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savanna. She enjoyed reading, playing piano and most of all, spending time with her family.
Jan will be dearly missed by her son, David Schreiner of Tombstone, Arizona; two grandsons, Damien and Jorden Schreiner; and her good friend, Jean Jones of Savanna. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; one son, Don Schreiner; and one sister Margery Jensen.
