James “Ox Tail” A. Eads, age 76, of Thomson, Illinois, died Sunday July 28, 2013 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at

Jim was born May 10, 1937, the son of James and Florence (Milroy) Eads, in Morrison, Illinois. He attended Morrison Schools. Jim worked for Chicago Northwestern, and Drives, in Fulton, Illinois. He also did work in construction. Jim proudly served his country, in the air force, during the Korean War. He served in Madrid, Spain and Guam. Jim enjoyed life off of the grid and living off of the land. Jim liked wildlife and he also was an avid fisher. He spent time hunting both animals and morel mushrooms.
Jim will be dearly missed by his significant other of more than 20 years, Mary Jo; three sons, Guy Eads of Davenport, Iowa, Clay Eads, and Joseph Eads both of Vancouver, Washington; two daughters, Jessie (Thomas) Blanchard and Billie Holle both of Clinton, Iowa; five grandchildren; one brother, Robert Eads of Richlands, North Carolina; one sister, Linda Snyder of Morrison.
Jim was preceded in death by both parents; one son, Wade Eads; and one brother in infancy, Charles Eugene.
