James Paglin

James Robert Paglin is fondly remembered for his ability to make everyone smile with his sense of humor. He also proved to be a great guide in his family, Beloved Husband of Luellyn, Father to Lisa and Joseph. At the age of 75, Jim passed into Heaven Monday, April 21, 2014 at home due to natural causes. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elizabeth with Reverend Harvey Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
Jim was born August 14, 1938 in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Emma (Lippai) Paglin. His father passed away when Jim was eight years old, and his step-father, Harold Swanson came into his life at the age of ten. He is a graduate of the Steinmetz High School in Chicago. Jim served in the US Army. On April 20, 1963, Jim married his sweetheart, Luellyn "Lu" Boehm in Chicago. They celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Jim worked as a buyer for Centrella Foods, Franklin Park, Illinois and later as an International Sales Manager for Pastorelli Food Products, Chicago. "He was a natural salesman," says his son, Joe. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors with his Garden Railroad and going out for coffee with the neighborhood guys. He loved history and volunteered as the Train Master at the Elizabeth Historical Train Museum. Jim was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elizabeth Historical Society, Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the NRA.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife Luellyn Paglin of Elizabeth; His daughter, Lisa Mraz of Ontario, California; his son, Joseph (Alison) Paglin of Kankakee, Illinois; his three grandchildren, Kevin and Karleene Mraz and James Paglin; and a sister, Eleanor Fertig of Channahon, Illinois. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and step-father.
Memorials may be given in Jim's honor for St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elizabeth.
