James “Jim” Kallenberger, age 72, of Savanna, Illinois, died Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, Illinois. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. Reverend Mike Jones of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Stockton, Illinois will officiate. Memorials may be given in Jim’s honor for the Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, Illinois.
Jim was born March 16, 1936, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the son of Reuben and Clara (Quinzer) Kallenberger.
Jim worked for the Savanna School System, Savanna City Hospital and Mt. Carroll Good Samaritan as a Custodian. He was a former member of the Savanna Moose Lodge, Savanna, Illinois. Jim enjoyed repairing small engines and visiting with people on his CB Radio. He loved to dance and was the type of person who enjoyed being active and on the go. Most important to Jim was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
Jim will be dearly missed by two daughters; Tammy (Gene) Bennett of Fulton, Illinois and Debbie (Pat) Kemp of Savanna, Illinois; two sons James (Allison) Kofron of West Chester, Ohio and Joel Kallenberger of Berea, Kentucky, eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernalda (LeRoy) Becker of Sun Prairie, Minnesota.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Glen and a Granddaughter, Tara Kallenberger.
