James A. “Jim” Dornbush, age 68 of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Sunday December 23, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 28, 2007 at 1:30 pm from the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Pastor David Vidler of the 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mt. Carroll officiating. A Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to the service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jim’s name.
Jim was born on March 17, 1939 in Morrison, Illinois, the son of Steve and Marie (DeVries) Dornbush. Jim attended Thomson High School and graduated from Mt. Carroll High School with the class of 1957. On September 1st, 1979, Jim married Ila White in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Farming was Jim’s occupation most of his life. Most recently he worked for the Rockwood State Park in Morrison, Illinois. In his spare time Jim loved yardwork, gardening and cooking, but most of all spending time with his family.
Jim will be missed by his wife Ila, a step-son Donald James (Connie) Keckler of Lanark, a step-daughter Laura Curl of Clinton, Iowa, his sister Nancy (Bob) Schroeder of Mt. Carroll, four Grandchildren and five Great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a step-grandson Daniel.
