James "Jim" Delp

James “Jim” Miles Delp, age 59, of Normal, Illinois, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. A Celebration of Life service will also be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the UAW Local 2488 Union Hall, 10226 E 1400 North Rd, Bloomington, Illinois.
Jim was born November 9, 1955, the son of Richard and Anna (Hazen) Delp in Savanna. He attended Savanna High School, and graduated with the Class of 1973. Jim married Jean Ross on December 9, 1988 in Clinton, Iowa.
Jim worked for Mitsubishi Motorway, Normal in Stamping for 24 years until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of United Auto Workers (UAW). Jim was a music lover and enjoyed detailing his vehicles—always keeping them in pristine condition. He loved going on vacations with his family, and cherished every moment spent with his wife and sons.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife of 26 years, Jean Delp; two sons, Alexander Delp and Andrew (Jill) Deacon of Normal, Illinois; two grandchildren, Miles and Corben; his mother, Anna Delp of Savanna; three brothers, George (Tami) Delp of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Raymond Delp of Savanna, and William Delp of Savanna; two sisters, Leann Delp of Savanna, Delores Delp of Las Vegas, Nevada and many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Richard, and one brother, Michael Delp.
