Jacob "Buck" H. Newsom, Iii

Jacob “Buck” H. Newsom III, age 56, of Preston, Iowa died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at the funeral home.
Jacob was born October 19, 1958 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Martha (Thomsen) Newsom. He attended Northeast Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1978, and was a two-year MVP of his high school football team. Jacob served in the United States Navy on the USS Enterprise from 1986-89. He also competed in Tough Man competitions. He was well-loved and had many friends all over the United States. He had lived and worked in California, Oregon, Missouri, Texas, Minnesota and Iowa.
Jacob enjoyed sports, boxing, being outdoors and especially loved the time he spent with friends. His many friends will miss his sense of humor and loyal companionship.
Jacob will be dearly missed by his daughter, Chantelle (Jake) Corlett, of Wilmington, Illinois; a granddaughter, Cecilia, one grandson, Jude; three sisters, Marlynn (Paul) Meyermann of Elvira, Kim Snook of Des Moines, Iowa, Melissa Newsom of Bettendorf, Iowa; two brothers, Hans Newsom of Kansas City Missouri, Jason Newsom of Clinton, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Dawn Kradle of Mt. Carroll, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Martha, and his grandparents.
